Teacher Membership Criteria

To qualify as a C.R.A. Registered Teacher, you will have studied and completed the minimum teaching requirements for the style of Reiki you studied.

• All Levels of Reiki must be the same style. This will consist of not less than three (3) up to four (4) levels of training. If you were trained and attuned to William Rand Advanced Training Format (4 Levels) all in the same style of Reiki, depending on Lineage.
• You can apply to become a Registered Teacher one year from the date you receive your Reiki Master/Teacher Level.
• We encourage all applicants to teach Reiki classes during this one-year waiting period.
• Please follow the Teacher Guidelines for your classes during this 1-year period.
• Upon the first anniversary of receiving your Master Teacher Level Certificate, you may apply. 

New Teacher Membership Criteria:

• Complete and submit the online Registered Teacher Membership Application (Join Now),
• Provide a PDF containing all your certificates (must all be the same style of Reiki),
• A PDF of Signed copies of the – Governing Policy Forms & Teacher Guidelines,
• A PDF of your Class Outlines.

Original class Outlines – Submitting class Outlines for Registered Teacher status demonstrates to the Board your intent to uphold the high standards set by the Canadian Reiki Association. These standards should be reflected in your students’ Reiki education, as has been done for the past 30 years.

CRA has been recognized for its strict membership standards and for its recognition of our Registered Teachers who are responsible for upholding these standards in their classes and, more importantly, instructing new teachers on the standards and the requirements of CRA’s membership, ensuring their students will promote these standards in their classes.

Class Outlines are required for each level of Reiki you were attuned to, regardless of whether you plan to teach that level. Photocopies of other Reiki Teachers’ Outlines will not be accepted. We are not looking for your speaking points for what you will discuss in your classes, or your Manuals or the index of your Manuals. Think of Outlines as a page in your day timer that shows what will be happening throughout the day of your class.

We are interested in reviewing a timeline of your classes, in point form, that includes all items from the Teacher Guidelines. The Guidelines are your checklist and every item in them must show up on your Outlines. A few examples (not all-inclusive) of what we are looking for are:

• A point form at the beginning of your Outlines for Level II and higher, that you reviewed the student certificates and that they are in the same style of Reiki and they match the style of Reiki you are teaching. If you don’t do this and your students do not meet this requirement when they register with the CRA; it will be your financial responsibility to correct this.
• Ensure that the Certificates you hand out to qualifying students at the end of your class comply with all CRA regulations as set out in the Teacher Guidelines. This information should be included in your Outlines for the entry that relates to handing out Certificates.
• Please confirm at the start of your Outlines that the students received their Manual at the beginning of the class.
• Please review the Teacher Guidelines as it relates to Attunements and when they are given for each Level. Example: In Level 2 – before any work with energy, (meaning no drawing or practicing Symbols until after attunements have been completed).
• Refer to the Teacher Guidelines for Level I as it relates to the required times for the Self Session, Chair Session, and one-on-one Table Session.

The above is not an all-inclusive list.

The Class Outlines are reviewed by a Board Member of the CRA. If revisions to the class Outlines are required, the Board Member will contact you directly by email with any needed changes.  

Case Studies and CEUs 

• Complete 12 (twelve) case studies and submit them with your application.
  • Case studies must be recorded on CRA Case Study forms.
  • One sixty (60) minute Reiki Session equals one case study. Sessions longer than 60 minutes will be counted as one case study. Case studies must equal twelve (12) hours.
  • You must have at least two different clients when doing your case studies.
  • Case studies can be combined with C.E.U.’s signed by a CRA Reiki Teacher hosting a Reiki Exchange or a Student Practice Night on CRA CEU Forms.
  • If you include Continuing Education Units (C.E.U.) forms they may not exceed half or 6 of the 12 case studies minimum. (This is optional.)
  • Practice time at CRA Teacher-hosted practices and CRA-hosted Reiki exchanges will count as 1 CEU per one contact hour for a maximum of 2 CEUs per event.
  • Case studies will not involve Distance Reiki, practicing on animals, or on children.
  • Complete 12 Case Studies done within 12 months of your application (before applying for Teacher Membership). It is mandatory to use CRA Case Study forms.
  • Case studies are a one time requirement.
• Case studies, Certificates and Class Outlines must be submitted to the CRA before your application will be processed. Each Application document includes an area where you will attach your PDF documents. NEW MEMBERSHIP — Online or Distance Training:

The CRA membership strongly believes that it is essential to learn in person with a Reiki Master Teacher. It is thought that the in-class experience enhances the learning process and fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Reiki principles and skills being taught.

Given this fundamental belief among its membership, the CRA does not recognize online or distance learning and will not accept new members who were taught in this manner. All CRA members must learn in person with an authorized Reiki Master Teacher.

We strongly encourage all online/distance learners to continue their study of Reiki and urge you to seek out and train in person with a Reiki Master Teacher, as we feel this will significantly enhance your learning experience.
